Life Lately

If you follow my blog at all, you know I have been really slacking lately!  We have been in Louisiana for one week now, and settling in has been a little bit of a challenge.  It turns out, it's just as hard to unpack with two young children as it was to pack with two young children.  But there are significantly less boxes than there were a week ago, and I'm slowly finding a place for everything.  In addition, we have been sitting on the floor for the last week.  We sold our LR furniture before we left Georgia because we knew we wanted something new.  We finally settled on some yesterday and it will be delivered tomorrow.  Yay!


Here's what else has happened since our arrival:  


We arrived on Tuesday.  Wednesday, Cory's mom and sister showed up.  They were just a tad bid excited  about us moving closer.  Also, it was Lindsay's first time to meet Eli.  


While they were here, they took advantage of our nice apartment pool.  Landry enjoyed it too!    

              

Cory's already been recruited to play on the church league softball team.

The kids and I already took a trip home.  We went to be with my family and to attend the funeral of a very special, sweet, loving man,  my great uncle Lloyd.  He will be deeply missed.

Eli wore his first tie for the occasion.                   

And while we were home, Eli got to meet many people for the first time, including Uncle Josh and Aunt Trista.

Judging by his smile, I think he liked them.

So that is my "ketchup" blog.  I should be much better at keeping up after my boxes are unpacked.  I better run to get after it again.

Our Week in a Nutshell

Well, we move in just a couple of days.  So blogging has been a little bit of an afterthought.  But I thought I'd post a few pictures to show what this week has consisted of....

Oops! Spoke Too Soon

I wrote about our move to Louisiana in this post.  And in the post, I said that we had found a house to buy and even posted a few pictures.  Well, turns out I spoke too soon.  We loved the set-up of the house and how roomy it was.  But after a less-than-pleasant inspection report, we have chosen to back out of our contract.  We're still headed to LA in a week, but we'll be living in temporary housing until we find the perfect house for our family.  Thanks again to everyone who has been praying for us during this time.  Please continue to remember us as we begin a new chapter of our lives!

Handful of Weeds - Happy Mother's Day!

As Landry was outside last week picking "flowers", I was reminded of a song.  This is a song I was asked to sing at a mother's day banquet a few years back.  I remember that I couldn't look at my mom while singing the song for fear that I would cry.  It's as if this song was written especially for me to sing to my mom.  It describes our relationship perfectly.  

Four years old, with dirt on my face

Mom, I love you so much!  I am so thankful that God gave me YOU for a mom.  You are so selfless and have always been such a huge inspiration to me.  I pray that Landry and I can have a relationship as special as ours!  You're the BEST!

Cast Your Vote!

I'm hoping to really jumpstart my official photography business once we move to Louisiana, and in order to do that I need a few things.  

I need to obtain a business license.   I need a photography blog (coming soon: ambervphotography.blogspot.com) And I need the perfect Brand/Logo/Stamp to really distinguish my work.  I want something that fits my personality; some thing that is professional and classy, but still fun.  So I'm asking for your help.  I have been working on some logos I like, and I would like to know which one or combination of any you like the best.  Please leave a comment telling me which numbers are you favorites and any other feedback you have.

I Believe I Can Fly

Eli was dreaming that he could fly today

At least, that's what it looked like to me.

Eli - 2 months old

Eli is 2 months old today!  Time sure does fly when you're having fun.  He had his 2-month well visit today and checked out perfectly!  He is now12 pounds 12 ounces, and he is 22 1/2 inches long. This places him in the 75th percentile for weight and 25th percentile for height.  We're pretty sure we have a little fullback on our hands.  

He's now smiling and cooing lots, especially when you look in the mirror with him.  He also loves to stand up rather than sit or lay.  He has a strong pair of legs.  I think he's a little cuddler, because he always grabs ahold of you when you are holding him.  If he thinks you are about to put him down, he tightens his grip a little.  So Sweet!

Farewell Lagrange

For my Lake Charles friends, it's not what you think.  I'm not talking about our old rival high school.  Cory and I have had the privilege to work with the students at Lagrange (pronounced with a long "a") College for the last two years.  To say we've enjoyed it would be a HUGE understatement.  We have fallen in love with these students and are deeply saddened to leave them.

A First

Believe it or not, Landry held Eli for the first time last week.  For some reason, she's never wanted to before.  When we try to place him in her lap, she starts trying to push him and says, "Here you go Mommy."  She actually asked to hold him last week.  I snuck a picture as fast as I could.  The moment didn't last long.
