Quickie Photoshoot

My mom made this gorgeous outfit for Landry a little while back, and I knew that we absolutely must, without a doubt, do a photo shoot in it.  The problem is that it is sometimes very hard to actually do location shoots with your own kids.  Who has time for all that???  Well, while Cory is in town, I've been basking in the opportunity to spend some one-on-one girl time with my Lan.  We were taking a trip to wal-mart recently to get a birthday gift, and since it is not too far from downtown, we took a little time to do a quickie photo shoot.

Now, I must be completely honest.  She was totally uncooperative, wouldn't follow one single instruction I gave her.  However, the trick is to keep snapping at all times in hopes that you end up with something.  And what do you know.....I caught her!  I caught her looking pretty :)  Thank goodness for digital!!

I think the last one is my favorite.  I just love how she is in her own little world in a sea of yellow.  Maybe uncooperative is best sometimes.

A Daddy with a Guitar

I am really glad my husband plays the guitar.  I so enjoy when he takes it out, and we spend time just praising together in our own home.  I'm also glad we get to share it with our kids.  It's something I always hoped my family would do together.  While the kids' attention spans are still quite short, we were able to do a few songs together a couple nights ago.  I managed to get one video of Lan and Daddy singing together....

Warms my heart :)

Mardi Gras 2012

It had been forever since I had been to a Mardi Gras parade.  But since we live in Mardi Gras central, down here by New Orleans, we decided to attend some of the family friendly ones.  Cory even got to come to a few!!!  Let me just say, that my kids are loot magnets.  We have quite the collection of beads and stuffed animals now.  Just what every kids needs is more junk trinkets :P.  Oh well, I must admit, I couldn't help but get into the sport of it all.  And I'm sure we can come up with something crafty to do with all of these beads.

I did not bring my big honkin' camera out to the parades, because I was scared it might get damaged or stolen, but we did manage to get a few pictures and even a video with our phones....

This is me wearing the beads from only one parade!!!  Now multiply that by 3...

Tea For Four

I cannot say enough how wonderful my friends have been during Cory's time away!  They make sure the kids and I are taken care of constantly.  Valentine's Day was no different.  My sweet friends, Libby and Jake were so thoughtful to include us in the Valentine's plans they had for their little princesses.  Libby had planned out a sweet little tea party for her girls, including danish cookies, cupcakes and decorations, and off course "tea".  If there is one thing I have learned about Libby, she doesn't do anything halfway.  When she told me about her plans to set up a sweet little area in her house where the tea party would take place, I couldn't have imagined how beautiful that area would turn out.  When I walked into her house, I was completely BLOWN AWAY!  See for yourself.

I could eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner there everyday!!!!

Now onto the actual tea party.  Now, a princess would never attend a tea party unless she were dressed appropriately.  All of the girls slipped on princess attire, including shoes and jewels.

These girls are ready to party!!

Poor Eli was outnumbered, but he looked like such a little gentleman wearing his tie shirt :)

Caroline had no interest in tea.  But she definitely put down a cupcake or two...or three.  LOL

We were so impressed at how well mannered they all were.  They sat so nicely in their seats the entire time.  But soon, the Ipad won their attention, just like it always does.  Oh, Hi Jake!
All, except for Caroline.  She took full advantage of having all the snacks to herself!!

Thanks again, Jake and Libby for helping to make our Valentine's Day special!
 I love this girl!!

Valentine's Day Festivities

We knew today would be difficult without Cory.  We love him so much and want to celebrate this day of love with him.  He had already sent us a special gift.   He had a friend leave packages on our doorstep.  The packages included a Wii and some games to go with it.  What a wonderful Valentines gift for our family.

Since Cory wasn't here, to cheer us all up I wanted to do whatever I could think of to make it a fun day.  We started the day with a special breakfast....
Kids love anything that sparkles and shimmers or hangs from the ceiling.
Each of the kids got a new movie to share..

And after breakfast, in the spirit of Valentines, they actually loved on each other and watched a movie together.

Later that morning, I took the kids outside to find a special delivery in the mailbox:

They were both so proud of their cards.
It just melted my heart to see Eli trying to read his card to himself.
We also had some special visitors at our house.  While a friend of mine was out running errands, her girls came over to play.  They all had the best time, and they all got to have a Valentine's lunch together.

For dinner, we had a wonderful family meal at chick fil a, and then we had a really fun surprise. This surprise is deserving of a post all by itself, so I'll save it for next time!

Happy Valentine's Day!
