Daddy and Landry

Daddy's have a special relationship with thier kids. They just do some things that are way more fun than mommy. Here is a video of Landry and Daddy having a great time together. Don't mind the messy house.

Landry was not willing to go to sleep at her normal bedtime tonight. She was very delirious at this point. Take a look.

Pretty Eyes

Landry has learned to love the camera. She really has had no choice since it is in her face 24/7. She quickly learned that she is supposed to smile or pose when someone points a camera at her. And once she developed her very own camera face, we started calling it her "pretty eyes". Here is a video of Landry showing off her "pretty eyes".

Let it Snow!

It is a very rare occasion for us to see snow. Although we have moved around quite a bit, we have never lived in a place where snow is common. From time to time, the weather forecast will predict a slight chance of snow flurries, but we have learned not to get excited. So when the weather guy forecasted snow for today, I quickly dismissed it and went on my merry way. As we were getting ready for church, we spotted a few flurries mixed in with the rain and thought, "cool, but it will never stick." Were we ever wrong. The snow picked up so quickly that within the next hour and a half we had a huge blanket of snow covering our neighborhood. Church was canceled so it was a great opportunity to take Landry out and let her experience the fun. As you will see in the pictures, she didn't really know what to think. She wanted to stay outside because she enjoyed watching the snow, but she really didn't know what else she was supposed to do with it. Nevertheless, she looked super cute in her little snowsuit and we had the chance to snap a few pics.

Watch Out!

Ok, so it is no secret that Cory and I are both pretty strong-willed people. So we knew when we had a child that he or she would have no chance at anything different. Now a strong will not a bad thing because it pushes you to do great things; however, it can be known to get you in trouble from time to time. Landry demonstrates this beautifully in this film clip. Her intentions are good, she just wants to balance an egg shaker on a piece of plastic, quite the task for a 12 month old. But, in a sad turn of events, her frustration gets the best of her. Enjoy!

Landry's Laundry Jumping

So, since Landry has become more mobile on her feet, walking is not the only thing she enjoys. She has decided to take up climbing. As I was folding laundry one day, I looked back to find the hamper turned over on its side and my one-year-old standing up on the hamper bouncing. I quickly pulled her down for fear that she would hurt herself, but she was not giving in so easily. She quickly bolted back to the top of the basket bouncing up and down once more. This fight went on for a little while, until I decided to take advantage of the moment and grab the camera. Hope you enjoy this segment of “Laundry Jumping!”

On the Move

Well, it's like they say, "Parenting is a humbling experience." I was so sure that my daughter was going to walk early. She's always loved to stand rather than sit, and she is quite the busybody. When she took her first step at 9 months I thought, "This is it!" Boy, was I wrong. From that moment on, she made up her mind she would never move her feet again. Well maybe that is a bit dramatic, but it seemed that way. I would bribe her with anything from her favorite toy, to her binky, to a cupcake (what a shame). But this kid was not budging. She was going to show me how strong her will was. Finally about 2 weeks before her birthday, she decided to take 2 steps....what a breakthrough. Then the next day 8 steps....now we're talking. However, she liked to prove me wrong when I wanted to show her off to others. She decided for the next month and a half that she would step when it was convenient to her, but crawling was just so much simpler.... much less falling involved. Finally, about 3 weeks ago, she decided that this walking things was not half bad and that would use this mode of transportation a little more often. Today, it is her favorite past-time. She picks some random object, usually one that is way to big, and carries it around the house. She will walk to every room and back with her object of choice thinking that she is accomplishing some big task. What a life. I've attached a short video of Landry taking off.
