Baby Babble - Week 36

Sorry the pic is such bad quality. I just used my photobooth to take a quick one. However, you can tell that I am very large and in charge.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a quick update on Baby Eli. 2 weeks ago, I went to the doctor for an ultrasound and my amnionic fluid was on the low side. The doctor was a little concerned and scheduled another ultrasound for today to see if the fluid had remainrd low or had gone back up. If it did remain low, he was planning on inducing the baby early.

So at my ultrasound today, thankfully, the fluid was back to normal. Don't get me wrong, we were kind of excited about the idea of getting to meet our little boy this week, but we are thankful that he will have a couple more weeks to develop so there are less chances of any complications.

Doctor also said the head was low, and I have began to progress slightly. However, no dilation yet.

I know, I know...Valentine's is Over

If you have not been able to tell, I really love Valentine's Day. I think it is because I never seemed to have a boyfriend on Valentine's Day when I was younger. So since Cory and I have been together, I try to put forth a lot of effort to make Valentine's Day special each year. Also, our Anniversary is right smack in the middle of Summer, and of the 7 1/2 years we've been married, about 5 of those anniversaries have been spent at Summer Camp. Make a note of that if you plan on marrying a student minister. Valentine's is kind of a celebration in place of our anniversary, I guess.

Anyway, I didn't go ALL OUT this year, but I did make Cory and Landry heart-shaped toast for breakfast. And I did grab an idea from this website, that I thought you might like. The website gives detailed instructions on how to make it. I really had to rush through mine, so it's not anything fancy, but guys don't tend to care about the fancy stuff anyway. I know V-day is over, so you may want to do something like this for another special occasion or save it for next year. Oh, and the reason I have blank cards is because Dollar Tree only had a trick deck of cards that had blanks on one side. It ended up working out for the best.

While we're at it, here is the Valentine Landry made for Cory. Landry used markers to color all over a coffee filter. Then we folded it so the center was a point and dipped it into water to make it "tye dyed". We then cut a stem, a center, and heart-shaped leaves and glued everything to paper to make a flower. Landry stuck some heart stickers on and voila!

Princess Night "After Party"

After parties are known for being wild and crazy.

You can usually count on seeing undergarments on someone's head.

People are dancing like there's no tomorrow.

Women are shamelessly chasing after men.

And you may even catch someone "streaking".

It was pretty much a one-man show for Landry tonight!

Princess Night at Chick fil a

Tonight, Daddy's little Princess got to go out as, well, "Daddy's little Princess"

Our local Chick Fil A had it's first ever Princess Night, and it was a major success. All the little girls came dressed up in their "princess best". I assure you, every Disney Princess made her appearance at least 10 times. Of course, I think Landry was the cutest princess there, but I'm not partial at all.

The tables were dressed in white table cloths, pink ribbon, and pink carnations.

Each little princess got a free kids meal.

Landry was so much in the spirit of things, she even ate her chicke, a VERY rare occasion for my child.

Landry also received her first manicure. She chose pink, of course.

We even got to take a horse and carriage ride.

It's Sticking! It's Sticking!

The forecast occasionally predicts snow in the south. But the question I always ask is: Will it stick? It is pretty to watch snow falling from the sky and all, but it's not a whole lot of fun unless there is a little on the ground to play in. So when the weatherman predicted 1 to 4 inches of snow in our area, I was pretty stoked.

The snow got a slow start on Friday, but around noon I was able to update my facebook status to read, "It's Sticking! It's Sticking!" Funny thing is that a friend of mine posted the exact same status about 20 seconds before me. Great minds think alike, right?

As you can imagine, we were especially excited to let Landry experience the snow. We had a snow day last year, but Landry was barely walking then. And she honestly didn't know what to think about all the cold, white, wet stuff. And I, the paranoid mom, was so afraid she was going to get frost bite. However, we did snap a few pictures. You can see them here in last year's blog.

Needless to say, this year was much more exciting. I'll let the videos and pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy!

Spaghettio-Tinted Roses.

I know the title of this blog has sparked your interest.

Yesterday, Landry and I arrived to BCM luncheon to find 2 roses, 2 cards, and 2 valentine gift bags. Cory had left surprises for his 2 sweethearts. It was very sweet!

So today, Landry was sitting in her highchair and spotted the roses. She wanted to hold them, so I let her. I had forgotten her bowl of spaghettios was still on her tray. And when I looked away for a few minutes, Landry went to town mixing the spaghettios with the flowers. So now, we have spaghettio-tinted roses. But they are still beautiful, don't you agree?

And The Answer Is.......

So I know you have all just been dying in anticipation to know just how much I saved on my grocery shopping trip this week. Not really, I know I am just humoring myself. But I did have a few guesses, so I thought I needed to share the answer.

Here is the stash of groceries again:

I bought these groceries at Winn Dixie and Publix.

I spent a grand total of: $40.73

The retail price of these groceries before sales and coupons is: $162.41

Which makes my savings: $121.68

Still, I bought a few things that were not on sale and a newspaper, of course

I'd say that is a win!!

I'm not going to list everything this time, but I'll make a few notable purchases.

3 tubs Land O Lakes Butter - Free

3 pkg. Betty Crocker Cookie Mix - .53 each

3 Healthy Choice Steamers - .50 each

23 jars baby food - .13 each

6 pkg. Fiber One Yogurt - .25 each (good thing I have chosen to like yogurt now)

Publix Brand Coke - .01

and the list could go on and on :)

After I was finished making my purchase at Publix yesterday, the lady behind me told the cashier, "I only have one coupon". She had a little smart tone to her voice when she said it. Do you think it bothered me? Heck No! If I can save my family this much money, I will gladly have the cashier scan my handful of coupons.
