Eli - 4 months old

Eli actually turned 4 months on Monday, but I waited until he went to the doctor to blog about it.  Eli is 18 lb. 4 oz., 25 1/2 inches long, and his head circumference is 17 inches.  This puts him in the 75th percentile in length and head circumference and 90th percentile in weight.  What a big healthy boy!  He is a great big ball of sweetness!
Here is what he has been doing lately......

-He laughs out loud
-Smiles and Coos Constantly
-Tries to sing when music is playing
-Rolls both ways, mainly from his back to his belly
-Shakes a rattle
-Plays well with his floor gym and jumperoo
-Eats up attention!!!!
-Strains to sit up any time we recline him
-Grabs hair anytime it's nearby
-Tries to hold his bottle.  Puts it in and takes it out
-Gives you a big wet kiss any time you touch his face with your nose
-Sleeps 9 to 10 hours at night

Also, we have started giving him solids.  He began on cereal a couple of weeks ago, and yesterday we gave him his first taste of baby food.  I think he really liked it!  Here is a video capturing that moment.

Playdate

I have met a new friend here in Mandeville.  She is new to the area as well, and she has already been a huge blessing to me.  She has two precious children, so we all took advantage of the cool little splash park they have here.  Our kids had so much fun, even though Landry would never actually run through the water!  Here are some pictures from the day

They even had snow cones at this splash park!  What a combination!

Celebrating America

We kicked off our Independence Day celebration with an event at our church.  It is a wonderful event that includes, food, games, an antique car show, visits from members of the military, music, fireworks, and much more.  We invited the entire community and had an amazing turn-out, despite the rain.  I was asked to take some candid photos at the celebration, and I'm so glad I had this opportunity.  It was so much fun running around, capturing special moments.  Here are some of my favorites:

914 days

That is how many days Landry has been on this Earth.  She turned 2 years and 6 months old yesterday which officially makes her a 2 1/2-year-old.

So what has Landry been doing lately:

-A couple months before we moved, she got rid of her binky
-She almost always talks in complete sentences
-She sleeps in a big girl bed and doesn't get out until we go get her
-She quotes movies and sings songs from movies
-She distorts her voice to say things, in an attempt to make you laugh
-She's very dramatic, independent, and bossy
-And, I feel like I can say with confidence, that she is successfully potty trained.  Yipee!
Yep!  She still likes to dress up as much as ever.  In this picture she is wearing a pair of bloomers under her hat

Love you Lan!  You bring incomprehensible joy to our lives!

Baby's Got His Blue Jeans On

I had to have a photo shoot with Eli in his denim diaper today.  I LOVE the result!

That face is impossible not to love!

Down on Grandpa's Farm

My parents live in the country.  They have 60 acres in the middle of nowhere.  Now, I don't think I would ever want to live out there permanently, but I have to admit it's nice to visit.  There are some things you can only do in the country and Landry took full advantage of those things during out last visit.

She "worked" in PawPaw's Garden,

stood as tall as a sunflower,
played in the dirt and gave herself a dirt mustache,
made homemade ice cream,
and picked a watermelon from PawPaw's watermelon patch

And what did Eli do this entire time?  He got loved on by lots of people
And played the days away
And Landry's so excited, she can barely contain herself!

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Eli is a' rollin'!

I had been waiting for Eli to roll over, but he just didn't seem at all interested.  After being held for 2 days straight in Natchitoches, I laid him down on his tummy to get a picture of him and "bloop" he finally did it.  Since then, he has never rolled from his tummy to his back again.  BUT, a couple of days later he rolled from his back to his tummy and hasn't stopped since.  I can't even change his diaper without holding him down.  Blink and you'll miss it.  He's a fast little booger.

My conclusion is that he likes his tummy because he can see things better.  He's also trying really hard to scoot.  We may have an early mover on our hands.  Only time will tell.

Here is one of the rolls captured today:

It's starts.....
Halfway there....
Push Hard...
Harder.....
We made it.....
Whew!  Glad that is over!
