Baby Babble - Week 34

My cousin and I were just commenting the other day about how uneventful and quick our doctor's appointments were because our pregnancies were going so smoothly. We talked about how we wanted to think up a few questions each time just so we felt like we were getting our money's worth. We should have kept our mouths closed and just been thankful. Because we both had appointments today, and we were both given interesting news. Funny how quickly we can be humbled.

So I had been anticipating my appointment for a while now, because I was scheduled for another ultrasound. This was to estimate the size and determine the position of the baby.

Good news: Eli is head down and measuring to be a healthy 5 lb. 7 oz. If I were to go all the way to 40 weeks, I'd probably be having about an 8 1/2 lb. baby.

Not so good news: My amnionic fluid is a little low. This explains why Eli's movements have felt so strong for the last couple of weeks. It's honestly been a little painful.

So, what does that mean? Well, it's nothing to be really worried about. Sometimes amnionic fluid fluctuates. But, I will go back to the doctor in 2 weeks to have another ultrasound. They'll measure the fluid again and if it hasn't gone up, we may be looking to deliver earlier than we expected. (About 36 weeks). It's a good thing that Eli is so healthy.

As for my cousin....she is 38 weeks pregnant now. Her blood pressure was up today, but she has not started dilating yet. The doctor has put her on bed-rest for the weekend, and then she'll be reexamined on Monday. If her blood pressure is still up, they may be inducing her next week.

So, please be in prayer for us and the babies, that everything will go smoothly. I trust that everything is going to work out fine because God is in control. Just pray that God prepares us for whatever is to come.

What's In A Name....

That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet

Many people acquire nicknames from young children. And many people end up adopting that nickname and are called that by everyone for the rest of their lives. I can think of 2 people, off the top of my head, who have named their businesses by using a nickname a young child gave them.

With that being said, I thought I'd share a few of the nicknames Landry has given to some of our friends and family.

This is Cory's Dad, Johhny. We have taught her to call him Poppy. Instead, she calls him "Pee Pee". Not exactly the name one wants to be called, but of course hearing Landry say it just makes Poppy melt.

This is Cory's sister, Lindsay. Landry's name for her, "Aunt Z"

This is my brother and sister-in-law, Josh and Trista. Landry calls them "Unca and Aunt T."

This is Landry's best bud, Reece. She says his name perfectly.

This is Reece's mom, Corie. Landry calls her Reece also.

This is Olive. Landry calls her "Abba". That is the Aramaic word for Father. Interesting choice Landry

This is C.J. Landry has chosen to call him "Cocky". This is cause for many jokes, of course. Really, he is a nice guy and he's a good sport for being cool with his nickname. I'm not sure if he'll want this one to stick though.

And last, but certainly not least, this is Eli. Honestly, I think Landry thinks my belly is named Eli now. I don't think she realizes he will be coming out soon to live with us. Either way, Landry's name for him is "eyebrow." Poor baby.

Special Blessings

Anyone who has ever lived away from his or her family knows it can be tough at times. When I was pregnant for Landry, I was fortunate enough to live in Lake Charles for most of my pregnancy. It was wonderful getting to share all the wonderful new experiences with my family and friends back home. For this pregnancy, I have been in Georgia, and have not had my extended family surrounding me the entire time. However, God has blessed me immensely by giving me wonderful friends to share the experience with.

These two wonderful ladies, Corie and Traci, have been so special to me. I know God placed them in my life during this time, and I am so thankful. They are so thoughtful, and they threw me a amazing baby shower today. Here are a few pictures from the wonderful event.

Don't you just love all the faces you get caught making when you are opening gifts. These were actually the "good" faces. Eeek!

Landry's favorite part was the FOOD. I think she ate a pound of cheese.

Valentine's Greetings

Since our families live quite a distance from us, I like to try and send them special things from Landry. I try to do a little craft/card for each holiday, and as long as Landry has added her own little touch to it, they eat it up. So here is what I did for Valentines.....

I had to wait to post this blog until they received them in the mail. Of course our parents called us tonight on the phone excited about what they had received. They LOVED it! I wanted to share my idea with you in case you wanted to do something like it. Even if your parents live right down the road from you, who doesn't like to get "good" mail? And what grandparent, uncle, aunt, etc. doesn't want cute pictures of your little one? On the inside, it just says Happy Valentine's Day ____________. And of course Landry wrote her own special message. I also made sure I included the year, so it would be a keepsake.

While we were at it, Landry and I made a special project for daddy as well. He took it to his office and hung it on his wall.
