Well, I've gotten pretty good at throwing my childrens' birthday parties a couple of months late. And in this case, I am also a month late blogging it. I've been on a roll lately, so I wouldn't want to throw anyone a curve ball and actually be on time. ;) To be honest, I had been thinking about his party for a while. I had jotted down ideas that popped in my head and even tried to get ahead of the game by doing a few things in advance. Still the week before the party I got hardly any sleep. Worth it??? TOTALLY!!! I am thrilled with the way everything came together and most importantly Eli loved it!
So....Shall we begin?
I wanted something fun and punchy for the backdrop. I thought about all the cheap frames I had gotten from garage sales and stored in the garage. I threw a little red spray paint on a few of them and printed out these fun prints to go inside.
I added little fabric bunting and tissue paper pom poms and I had myself a backdrop that truly celebrated my birthday boy.
The cake presented a few challenges, but in the end it pulled through for me.
And these cupcakes were surprisingly simple to make, but absolutely adorable!
Each of the foods served were associated with a specific Sesame Street character
But I think the drinks may have been my favorite! "Juice up" with Grover's Super Juice. Who doesn't want a drink with a cape?
Elmo was at the door to welcome all the guests to Sesame Street
And there were lots of fun games and activities to keep the guests busy
Here are some pictures of the guests partaking of the goodies and participating in the fun
And here are a couple of me with the guest of honor :)
We also had a photo op. Look at those little grouches!
And to say thank you, each guest got to choose a cup with their favorite character and a few goodies inside.
Lastly, here I am with my partner in crime, my mom. There is no way I could have pulled this party off without her. She made all the wonderful cardboard cutouts and stayed up all night helping me pull everything together. Thanks Mom!!
