First, let's start out with Landry's class party. Parents were invited to the party, so Eli and I went. Cory was sick, so he was unable to come, but he hated to miss it. The kids ate pizza, had a book exchange, and did a fun craft. Here are a couple of pictures.
This last set of pictures had to go together. Landry was determined not to smile, but we were doing everything we could to make her. You can look in her eyes to tell how hard she was fighting it. Finally, her friends began to tickle her and she couldn't hold back any longer. I love to see that beautiful smile!
Now that Landry is getting older, it's time to start thinking of how to make Christmas meaningful to her. We have talked about the Christmas story and how we celebrate the birth of Christ. We have also talked about how Christ was a gift from God because He loved us, and that is why we give gifts to the people we love at Christmas. I made it a point not to say anything about getting presents. Instead, I told her that others may give her gifts because they love her. Even though I know my kids will hear it, I want to try to avoid the phrase "What did you get?" With that said, I took Landry shopping to buy special gifts for our family members. She bought slippers for daddy, and cool toy for Eli, and painted picture frames for our parents and siblings. She loved doing this and was very particular about how she did it. Here she is working on one of them
Some not so good news that happened during the holidays is that Eli got RSV. He seemed fine, other that a nasty sounding cough. Turns out, he had an ear infection and RSV. While we were visiting my parents, we took him to the hospital because his breathing seemed a little labored. He had a small patch of pneumonia in his lungs. Poor little guy! But he's such a trooper and didn't let it stop him from having a good time. Here he is doing his breathing treatments.
We did our "Christmas Morning" a little early since we were going out of town.
My parents' house was our first stop. We read the Christmas Story before opening gifts
Landry got woken up from her nap and didn't want to open gifts. What kind of kid is she? After a bath, the grouch was gone and she was ready to go.
Eli wanted to climb the presents instead of open them.
Here is Trista opening a gift for Baby Jamie. I guess I hadn't mentioned it yet, but my brother and sister-in-law are expecting a baby in May. It's a girl!
Silly Boy!
One of Landry's gifts was a camera. She took pictures of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Here are a few fun ones she took...
On Christmas Morning, we enjoyed some Christmas Pancakes and Christmas Gumbo and then headed to Cory's parents' house.
When we got there, presents were first on the agenda.
Then, there was lots of playing.
Of course, we had to go see the lights.
And Nana had to get in her goodbye hugs before we left.
And this was our house after we had unloaded almost everything. I am still cleaning and wondering when it will ever be done......maybe by next Christmas
We come to the end. I went picture heavy and light on text. Hope your Christmas was blessed!
