Father's Day Banquet.....a la Landry

I read an article suggesting you let your children get involved in the prep for the father's day meal.  Not just making cookies or making a card, but everything.  What an ingenious idea!  I am always trying to do things to encourage creativity in my children.  However, sometimes I get so caught up in all my own ideas and making everything perfect, I forget to let the kids come up with things on their own.  Not the case this time.  This time, Landry did HER thing.

We are visiting my parents for a little while, so we were able to prepare a special meal for Cory and my Dad.  I started off my asking Lan what she would like to cook for them.  Her response was, "Maybe a Cake?"  Then she said "We could make them a sandwich, a ham sandwich" After explaining that we would need to make an entire meal, she made her final decision and came up with a menu.

Our menu consisted of: Rice and Gravy with Chicken, Mac and Cheese, Green Beans, Bread, Whoopie Pies (she spotted those in the store and decided we needed them), and strawberry cheesecake. To drink, they could choose lemonade, peach tea, or orange crush

She said we would also need a table blanket or a table "clop"  We went to the party section and she selected all the decor and "fine china".   She chose sports balloons to designate everyone's seat, a camouflage table cloth, monster plates and napkins, and sports cups

Once the table was all set, we called the guys in and made them close their eyes....

As you can see, Landry got busy serving drinks right away

She did such a great job making sure everyone got just what they wanted.
And she was rewarded with kisses :)
Mouths are full.  I think that's a good sign!

And don't worry.  Eli got to participate too.  He was there to play "choo choo" on pawpaw's arm....

.....and to eat a whoopie pie or two. LOL
