Fun at the Fire House

If you have a boy, this might sound very familiar to you.  Seems he's into something new every week.  Whatever that "thing" is, he is totally and completely obsessed until something else catches his attention and he moves on to that "thing."  Most times it is a character such as Woody, Lightning McQueen, Thomas the Train or Bob the Tomato.  You've seen all the pictures where he is holding at least one of these characters.  However, most recently his infatuation has been about all things fireman.  He began asking all day, everyday "where's my fire truck hat?" Unfortunately, we didn't own one of those.  Thankfully, GiGi did :)

This brings me to my husband.  He is sweet and thoughtful, and remembers exactly what it was like being a little boy.  He loved his characters growing up, just like Eli loves them now.  When Eli took an interest in firefighters, my wonderful husband went straight to fire station and asked if we could come in for a tour.  I would have never thought of that!

Yesterday was the day, and Eli was super stoked!  He wore his hat all around the house that morning and couldn't wait to get to the firehouse.  When we got there, the firemen were so kind.  They gave our kids high fives.  They let them climb up in the truck and "drive".  They turned on the lights, showed them the hoses, and basically let them run around and explore all throughout the facility.  Eli's smile shone as brightly as the lights on the fire engine.  And of course, I was the crazy camera lady running around trying to capture every single moment.  Again, one day they will thank me ;)

I did exercise some restraint, as I didn't want to interfere with the Firemen's work, but I so wanted to wrap my baby in some of their gear. LOL. Maybe I'll save that for next time when we visit a friend's station.  Pretty Please Jeremy! ;)

Here are the pictures I did get:

Afterwards, Landry asked me if there were any "fire girls".  Hmmm, sounds like our little field trip sparked an interest in more than just Eli.
